After doing a bit of searching I surprisingly found it quite hard to find some actual Maine Made Beds. Not just assembled in Maine, but crafted in Maine by Maine people. I was starting to look hope until I came across Maine Woodworks. Not only did I love their selection of Maine Made Beds. I also fell in love with their mission. Maine Woodworks is a non-profit with a mission of employing an integrated workforce, made of people with and without disabilities. You can check out videos and images of their workshop which is located in Saco, Maine. Just seeing how happy the craftspeople looked, pulled me in even more.

I try to make a point of making a difference with my purchases. I try to buy local whenever possible and strongly believe in supporting local businesses. Once I found the story of Maine Woodworks, I knew that’s where I was going to buy my Maine made bed. Once I started to dive into their product selection I was even more intrigued. I learned that each of the bed options came with a large color palette to choose from. I loved this, because I customize my Maine made bed to suite the style of our rooms. To take it even one step further. They even let you choose what style of bed you buy, either standard or platform. The surprises didn’t stop there. I was even allowed to choose what kind of paneling the bed had. I was able to choose from Shiplap, barnboard, beadbaord or smooth.

Maine Woodworks exceeded my expectations when I started on the journey of find me new Maine made bed. My heart was full when I read about the company and their mission. Not to mention blown away by the beautifully designed beds they have available. What really got me hooked were all the customization options available to me.
